Prices for moving are generally based on the amount (volume) of goods you have to move. We also take into consideration the access to your home, what your packing requirements are, and if you have any items which require special handling such as pianos. Once we have these details we are able to provide you with a price. And if you have some goods which you are unsure of shipping we are more than happy to provide you with pricing options so you can determine if they are worthwhile taking.

There are a number of different methods to suit your requirements or budget, using sea or air freight.

  • Sea Freight in a Sole Use Container.  This is where a shipping container will be used for only your goods whether you fill it or not. You can have the flexibility and surety of being advised pre-scheduled shipping dates and details. The approximate door to door transit time is 7 - 9 weeks to the west coast and 8 - 11 weeks to the east coast.
  • Sea Freight in a Shared Container. This is where your goods are placed into a container with other peoples goods and you only pay for the space your goods take up. This is generally the most economical option. With this option it is not always possible to advise pre-scheduled shipping dates as they are subject to a container being filled with other peoples goods. The approximate door to door transit time is 3 - 5 months.
  • Sea Freight as Crated LCL (Less than container load).  This is where perhaps you don't have enough goods to justify the costs of a sole use container or the transit time of shared container is too long. In this instance we will place your items into a crate which will in turn be placed into a shipping container with other commercial commodities bound for the same destination. You can have the flexibility and surety of being advised pre-scheduled shipping dates and details. The approximate door to door transit time is 7 - 9 weeks to the west coast and 8 - 11 weeks to the east coast.
  • Air freight. If you need to get goods to Canada fast then we can air freight them as individual loose packages for a small shipment or packaged onto a pallet for larger shipments. The approximate door to door transit time is 7 - 14 days.

When moving goods to Canada it is important to know that your goods must be cleared for entry by the Canadian Border Services Agency. We will undertake this formality on your behalf as part of our service. You are required to provide a copy of your passport and visas. You will also need to complete a Personal Effects Accounting Document (B4) and present it to Border Services at your first point of entry to Canada together with your inventory of goods being shipped.

As a general rule immigrants and former residents are able to import your used personal effects and household goods into Canada without having to pay any customs duty and tax provided you have owned and used your goods for 6 months. Former residents must have also lived outside of Canada for 12 months before returning.

If you include any alcohol and tobacco products in your shipment you will have to pay import duty and tax on them. There are also very tight controls around the restricted and prohibited goods such as drugs, firearms, weapons, food, articles manufactured from wildlife. Please be aware that some goods are completely banned while others may require special permits or licences for importation.
