Moving houses... again!

Moving houses is a challenge at any stage of life. Eileen from Wellington is 70 years old with arthritis, so she really wasn’t looking forward to moving for the second time in a year. She tells us about her experience with us.

“When we called on Conroy’s for a moving quote, we’d moved our whole household from the UK to New Zealand only the year before and had experienced a fair number of problems and no little stress with the moving company we’d used to come back home. So, we weren’t feeling too great about having to pack up and move our life again, even though this time it was only from one Wellington suburb to another.

“Conroy’s assessor came around about two weeks before the move. He was pleasantly friendly and efficient. Clearly he knew his stuff, because he made an excellent assessment of the job really quickly, which impressed us.

“The quote seemed competitive, and we were particularly pleased that the company was prepared to help us out by re-using the boxes that our stuff had travelled in from the UK, saving us money and helping the planet also.

“One of the best things I can say about a house moving experience is that I don’t remember much about it. This means that it all went smoothly and was blissfully unmemorable. On the day, the boys arrived on time, packed with maximum efficiency and good cheer, and cleared the house promptly.

“I recall them all being so friendly and thinking how much nicer they were than their counterparts in other countries. Jolly decent Kiwi blokes, with a smile to spare for you and a joke to get things going in good spirits.

“There were no complaints about the access of our new house from them either. Our new house is up a fairly typical Wellington steep access; cul-de-sac parking in a tight space, long path, steps, a non-typical bridge and then more steps. All of this was no problem at all. They whizzed everything up in no time and almost before we could turn around they were gone.

“Some of the (well-labelled) boxes were left in the incorrect rooms, causing some minor difficulty because I have arthritis and am not physically capable any more, but that is honestly the only fault I could find with what felt like a picnic in comparison with many other moves I’ve experienced in my fairly-long life.

“Unlike the move we had just been through, nothing was broken, because the packing skills and packing materials used were far superior to other companies’ packing. If I had to move again, I would use Conroy’s. They are really good at what they do.”
