After a long year studying and sitting your final exams for your degree, it’s great to know that home awaits you for a long summer. Finding a job will be a priority as you come into the workforce in 2017 but in the meantime it’s important to make sure your move back home goes smoothly. All those photos, souvenirs and furniture you’ve collected over the last few years needs to return home safely.

1. Beer Bongs

Uni life without a few parties and beers would be such a shame. We can all remember our first uni party whether at a hall or at a local house party. Of course, when the beer bong came out someone was pressured to get on one knee and take it down as the crowd looked on with shear joy. This is uni memorabilia in its purest form.

2. Couches (that survived the fire)

Buying a bunch of second hand furniture is part and parcel of uni life. In some parts of New Zealand (cough, cough, Dunedin) certain household items are notoriously lit on fire in scenes of ritual euphoria. Some of these items survive, while others don’t. For those that will remind you of classic times at uni you might want to move them back home with you.

3. Tweed Jackets & 2^nd Hand Clothing

No matter where you studied in New Zealand chances are you have collected some bizarre outfits over the years. From tweed jackets to colourful wigs and dress-up outfits, your wardrobe will be a classic reminder of your uni days. So why not keep these outfits for all future parties and events such as the Sevens or the Nines!

4. Textbooks (that were never opened)

How can you forget the enthusiasm you once had when you got your uni timetable and reading requirements. You gladly spent 100’s of dollars on textbooks written by your professors that were never opened. Oh the joys of uni! But hey on the lighter side you can keep these books stacked somewhere or even start a mini library, who knows one day you might get around to reading them!

5. An Abundance of Cutlery & Fine China

When you move from the halls to a flat the awkward yet necessary task of buying cutlery comes up. Often flat mates have managed to hoard a few of these items from their halls, and other times they come in empty handed. Wars can break out when your neighbours come round and see a few excess spoons lying round. When trying to save a few bucks some interesting china can be collected, make sure it comes home with you.
